Well, I guess I have been shunned from your event for being a badly behaved liar. Maybe one of you truthful, well-behaved right-thinking limited government types could see it within yourself to ask Craig Thomson about the massive fraud that goes on at WISDOT that inflates traffic projections and will end up costing drivers billions at the pump?

    Dear Bill:

I didn’t lie to you – I told you I had liberal friends and I was trying to get information to balance out their understanding of the commuter rail issue with whatever you could provide. Both of those statements are true – and thanks for providing the link to “The Road More Traveled”, although unfortunately, it had no value in terms of creating an understanding of the relative value of investment in different transportation modes.

We met at the Stoughton commuter rail “public hearing” where I asked where your numbers came from. Was I not well-mannered enough for you at that event? I did notive that many of the people against the commuter rail project were very rude – yelling at pro-train people during their time.

I also attempted to contact you after Don Severson (of the DCCPA) informed me that the information in his 2009 transportation poll came from you. Did my request for substantiation for the claims you made in the poll offend you?

We also attended the first meeting of the Dane County RTA, where you were claiming that Mark Opitz intentionally misled the public with his resolution to hold a referendum prior to enacting the previous RTA proposal. Did I offend you at that event?

    Matt,
I’ve dealt with you in the past. YOu are a proven liar and I told you so many years ago that I will no longer deal with you. To be clear, Pints is for coalition members, conservatives and right-minded well mannered honest people- you are none of these people. Your RSVP is refused as will your entrance to our private party. Get lost.

The thing is, the bulk of the “transfer” was in the form of Borrowing backed by General Purpose Revenue. By the end of Doyle’s tenue, the amount actually transferred was about $375mil. Also important, 83% of local road costs come from Property taxes, not gas taxes,

the 12-year net transfer stands at $300,8 mil FROM general revenue TO transportation. So no, state gas-tax-derived transportation funds on the whole have not been spent to fund something besides transportation.
